PROBLEM / PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION
The TV is a staple in almost every home. While the way we watch TV has changed considerably throughout time, the remote control has had little change or improvement.
Remo is a redesigned remote concept that effectively benefits usability, convenience and functionality.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
How can the TV remote be redesigned/rethought to most effectively benefit usability, convenience and functionality?

USER NEEDS
+ KEY FINDINGS
Joseph
Favorite type of TV shows/movies : Sci Fi and Science Documentaries
Being a young software engineer, Joseph is familiar with technology and has no trouble using it. His issues are more convenience:
“At the end of the day I always watch my shows, for me it’s always troubling finding where the remote is, it gets lost in my bed all the time. I also don’t like all of the tiny buttons.”
Elizabeth
Favorite type of TV shows/movies: Romance, Drama, Reality shows
As an author, Elizabeth tends to read more than watch TV. Nevertheless, she has trouble with her eyes at night and it’s hard to distinguish between buttons on the remote.
“I always have trouble with my eyes at night.. I wish there was an easier way to feel or see the buttons. My TV remote gets dirty and it is hard to clean, I would prefer it be one smooth surface”
Mary and Dan
Favorite type of TV shows/movies: Disney movies, Action films, News
This older couple has some trouble with all of the buttons and certain functions are too complicated.
Mary: “With my arthritis, I usually have Dan use the remote. The buttons are too tiny and close for me.”
Dan: “The remote controls are complicated for an old guy like me. It is tedious to even turn on the TV”
